Medicinal Chemistry

The Medicinal Chemistry Unit works closely with Biologists (at the Weizmann and other Institutes in Israel), and the High Throughput Screening Unit to interpret the output from HTS screens, triage the output, and then optimize the most attractive hit matter.  The key deliverable from this unit will be the design and synthesis of “chemical probes” which will help to validate novel biological targets.  These chemical probes could also be utilized as starting points for a drug discovery effort.

The Medicinal Chemistry Unit will utilize a range of tools to interrogate the output from biological assays and apply a Medicinal Chemistry perspective to these data.  Our new state of the art chemistry lab is staffed and operational.  We are able to validate the integrity of samples, synthesize new and improved analogs, and purchase analogs from commercial vendors to meet the varied needs of our collaborators.
